For project one the idea is doing close ups in a way that the object being photographed looks unrecognizable or changes it in a way that makes it different. Some ideas of mine are doing things that are kind of science related such as water and surface tension. Also balancing and creating structures from the balancing. In order to capture these ideas in a creative way I will need to play with the lighting and angles in which I photograph the objects. I was thinking doing some pictures of coins and cards. I would also not like to forget about nature and how it in and of itself is scientific. I hope to go out and capture some natural scenery and do some close ups outside as well. I will shoot in color to help give more to the pictures. Since most of my pictures will be scientific like, most will be staged. The nature ones will probably not be staged as much as inside pictures.
After looking through some photographers, David Goldes and Dawn Roe, I got to see some ways that they do close ups and include science with their pictures. David Goldes did a spectacular photo shoot involving water, and I thought of a few ideas that i would have liked to see from him and decided to shoot them myself. I took a picture of water with ripples created by sound. I also did a picture of water on the surface of a penny and from the side it looked like the head of the penny was 3-D. I also took some pictures of nickels standing on end and played with the light and depth of field to create an interesting perspective. I also built a card structure and photographed the shadows that it cast upon the ground. Most of my pictures played with depth of field and lighting. I am content with the pictures I shot.
